On April 18, Xiaomi is set to launch the Xiaomi - Mi 13 Ultra in China. Prior to the release, the company has been teasing the design of the smartphone, including the camera sensors. Recently, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun shared promotional images of the phone's design on Weibo, revealing that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra resembles a camera more than a smartphone. The upcoming flagship is expected to replace the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and will feature Leica-tuned cameras.
While it is unclear from the post, the camera-like bump and grip seen in the promotional image may be an external case that can be attached and detached from Xiaomi's Mi 13 Ultra. The smartphone is being marketed as a professional imaging device rather than a camera phone, and Xiaomi has confirmed that the quad-camera setup will include a 50-megapixel Sony IMX989 sensor and three 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 sensors.
Rumors suggest that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The smartphone is expected to come with a 6.7-inch WQHD+ AMOLED LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, and an Android 13-based MIUI 14. Leaked reports also suggest that the phone may feature a 4,900mAh battery with 90W fast charging capabilities. Xiaomi has promised to reveal more information about the phone at the launch press conference, and a unique model will be given away for "re-evaluation."
